The Ohio Revised Code requires that all dogs three months of age or older must be licensed. No dog shall be harbored, kept, or owned without displaying a valid registration tag. (The law applies regardless of whether the dog is kept inside or out.)

ABOUT THE DOG WARDEN’S OFFICE:
All matters pertaining to the Dog Warden’s Office are subject to approval and revisions by the Ottawa County Sheriff.
The Dog Warden’s Office is responsible for the registration of all dogs within the County and picking up stray dogs that are running at large. Our Office is also responsible for investigating livestock kills by coyotes, dogs and black vultures.
The Ottawa County Dog Warden’s Office is 100% self-supported and does not receive any money from general tax payer funds. All expenses of the dog shelter are paid using the funds colleced from the sale of dog licenses, impound and redemption fees in addition to court fines.
The Dog Warden’s Office does not respond to barking dog complaints, cat complaints or wildlife complaints.

If you are interested in dog(s) that are available for adoption, please contact us at (419) 898-1368 or visit our Facebook Page. All adopted dogs will be spayed/neutered. There is a $35.00 adoption fee in addition to the $24.00 dog license fee.
REDEEMING:
If you dog is lost, please contact our Office at (419) 898-1368.
NOTE: All information is subject to change in accordance with chapter 955 of the Ohio Revised Code. All dogs must have a valid dog license before they can be released from the shelter. Dogs are sold on a first come – first serve basis. We do not accept deposits or hold dogs. Cash or personal checks are the only accepted form of payment.
